Wednesday Book Review: This is Gus

This Is GusThis Is Gus by Chris Chatterton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The best part is the "little bitty puppy" (at least according to my 3.9 yr old). Gus doesn't like much of anything: parties, birthdays, petting, walking, or making friends. But he does love sausages and the little puppy! Very cute and just silly fun!

Wednesday Book Review: We Are All Equal

We Are All EqualWe Are All Equal by P. Crumble
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Overly didactic and talks down to kids in my opinion, most kids would see through this "equality" book. I especially didn't like the page "tests cannot measure the good you will do" and the marry whoever you please page because it didn't show animals mixing but just deer with deer, etc. Many better books out there.

Plus when it's this important, the book matters, the message matters, I would recommend:
All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold (Author) and Suzanne Kaufman (Illustrator)

The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson (Author) and Rafael López (Illustrator)

The Sandwich Swap by Queen Rania of Jordan and Kelly DiPucchio

Wednesday Book Review: Rosa's Big Pizza Experiment

Rosa's Big Pizza ExperimentRosa's Big Pizza Experiment by Jessica Spanyol
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The characters are diverse, the story is sweet, and who doesn't love pizza? But touting it as a book that teaches about science or math seems a stretch. This book is very cute, but I think it's trying too hard to be STEM.
